Ret. Petty Officer First Class Edward Denmon

(Ret) Petty Officer First Class, E-6, Edward Denmon AKA 'Musicman" retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and served in many areas of the US and abroad. He is a disabled Veteran and a survivor of the Vietnam conflict; 1968 to 1969.  His most notable assignment was as a recruiter in New York City.  Ed "Musicman Denmon made history becoming the first Black ever to be shown on a Coast Guard Recruiting poster.  While as a recruiter , he took on the sport of boxing and advanced to the semi finals of the 1968 New York Golden Gloves Tournament, and received a silver medal.  After a successful career with the U.S. Coast Guard, he settled in Atlanta, Georgia for approximately six years, and then moved to Denver, Colorado to adjust to retirement, and ride throughout the U.S.  He is an active member of the Prince Hall Affiliated Masonic Order, Daniel "Chappie" James jr. Military Lodge, number 27 located in Aurora, Colorado.  Musicman learned to ride a motorcycle in the late sixties.  He became an enthusiast in 2001, after taking the motorcycle riders saftey course.  He purchased his first motorcycle in 1998, Honda Goldwing, 1500.  He joined the Long Range Riders MC in Denver, Colorado and served as the Vice President for nearly three years before resigning to truley enjoy riding solo on his 2002 Honda Goldwing across country.  We are proud to have "Musicman" as our President and Founder of The Buffalo Soldier Mile High Chapter

Ret. SSG Willie Richmond

SSG (Ret.) Willie "Pete" Richmond, U.S. Army Disabled Veteran, born 2 Jan 1960, Memphis, Tennessee.  He joined the U.S. Army, 16 Sep 1980, and spent 3 tours in Germany where he met his wife, Petra in 1982.  Pete served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield from 1991-1992, and in Bossnia/Mazodinia from 1996-1997.  During his 20 years in the Army, Pete received several major awards, Meritorious Service Medal, 6 Army Commendation Medals, 5 Army Achievement Medals, South East Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.  Pete retired, September 2000 and settled in Colorado.  After retirement he worked for the Correctioan Sytem in Security.  He also worked as a Supervisor for Security, Peterson Airforce Base.  Pete joined the Buffalo Soldiers in November 2007, and is a proud rider of a silver 1800 Honda Goldwing.  Pete's favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys (America's Team?? :)  We are proud to have "Pete" as the MHC Treasurer.

SSG (Ret.) Sharon Gaither

SSG (Ret.) Sharon AKA "Lady Jaz" Gaither, retired from the U.S. Army June 1, 2008 after serving twenty-three years of federal service.  She is a disabled veteran and has served in the U.S. Army from June 1985 where she attended drill in Aurora, Fitzsimmons Army Hospital Colorado.  In 1988 SSG Gaither joined the regular Army.  Lady Jaz comes from a long history of military service.  Her father retired after serving 28 years in the U.S. Air Force.  She has two uncles that retired from the Navy and one other unlce that retired from the Air Force.  She has once cousin that served in the Coast Guard, one cousin served in the Marines and her brother served in the Army.

Lady Jaz first duty station was the Republic of Panama where she participated in Operation Just Cause.  Her overseas assignments include Republic of Korea, Germany, The Netherlands and deployments to Costa Rica, Afghanistan and Iraq. 

Lady Jaz was introduced to motorcycles by her brother who builds choppers and has been in several national motorcylce magazines and Heavy Metal Art Chopper books in Wichita, KS

Her first motorcycle was a new 2004 Harley Davidson 1200 Custom Sportster, she bought after returning from Germany.  Lady Jaz joined the Brothers In Arms MC, in Tacoma, Washington where she honed her riding skills around the beautiful mountains in Washington State.  September 2005 she joined the Buffalo Soldiers MC, Tacoma ~ Settle Chapter where she served as the secretary and webmaster.  After retiring from the Army she now resides in Wichita, Ks.

In May of 2008 Lady Jaz rode her 2004 Harley Davidson, Fatboy to Chalderon, Nebraska from Wichita, Kansas logging in over 1973 miles, her first long distance ride.  Her Buffalo Soldier brothers loving gave her the name "She who rides with no windshield" for riding the entire distance in a down pour of rain and high winds.  She still pushed onward without murmuring a peep.

After leaving Washington State Lady Jaz a Buffalo Soldier to her heart decided to request transfer to the Mile High Chapter in Denver, Colorado.  We are proud to have Lady Jaz as the Secretary and Web Master of the MHC.

MSG (Ret.) Edgar Spears

MSG (Ret.) Edgar "EasyEdgar" Spears, U.S. Army Reserves, 1966- 1996. attended several major courses while serving, Graduate of the U.S. Army Infantry School, Airborne Course, Academy of Health Sciences, Basic Medical Specialist Course, William F. Bolger Management Academy Supervisory Leadership General Management Course, and Advance Non-Commissioned Officer Course.  He has received several awards, Meritorious Service Medal, State of Texas, Adjutant General Individual Award, and State of Texas Faithful Service Medal.  One of his favorite assignments have been as a member of the 75th U.S. Army Maneuver Area Command, Houston, Texas.  EasyEdgar is a advocate fisherman who catches fish only weighing under 2 pounds. The MHC is proud to have "EasyEdgar" as an Associate Member.

Les "Medicine Man" Dowdell, US Army 74A5H

 He enlisted in the Army while in high school and after his recruiter obtained an ROTC scholarship for him was discharged as a PFC in August 1977. In 1981, he received a Regular Army commission as a 2d lieutenant after graduating from Prairie View A&M University. He attended the Chemical Officer Basic Course at Fort McClellan, AL and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA as the 2/47 Infantry Battalion Chemical officer/Assistant S3. Later as a 1st lieutenant, he commanded the fuel platoon and was acting executive officer of the 164th Chemical Company (Smoke Generator). In the fall of 1984, he was assigned as the Battalion Chemical Officer/Assistant S3 with the 4/502d Infantry Battalion in West Berlin. Later as a Captain, he commanded the 76th Chemical Detachment (JB). The detatchment was deactivated and he moved to the G3 staff and was instrumental in planning the honor ceremonies and parades for the 750th Berlin anniversary to included the arrival ceremony for President Reagan, Queen Elizabeth, and President Mitterand. In the spring of 1987, he was again stationed at Fort McClellan for the Chemical Officer Advance Course where he became a nuclear/chemical target anayst qualified (5H).His last duty assignment was as the 6th Army Readiness Group Chief, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Team. After earning a Master's degree in management, he left the Army as a Major. He also served in South Korea and Panama earning the ARCOM (w/2OLC), Army of Occupation Medal (BERLIN), ASR, and National Defense Medal. He is also Air Assault and Jungle Warfare qualified.
